On days like today I cannot help but wonder how many horses are out there needing help. How many starved, wet, and cold ponies are hiding in plain sight. Maybe they are just down a small gravel lane off a well-traveled local road. Maybe they are up on the side of Mt. Hood, or over in Columbia County. They could be in a rural part of The Dalles or up in Goldendale.
We have found them in all those places in the past, and I am sure there are more out there just waiting for us. Everyday they are burning more calories just to stay warm than they have to eat. Those horses are waiting for a kind neighbor or passerby to see them, notice their condition, and do something. They are waiting for someone with the courage to tell local authorities what they see. And when they do, we will be there for them.
Thank you all for donating and understanding that when that calls from law enforcement comes, we need to have funds in the bank to be able to say yes to taking them in. Your generosity is why we can be there for these animals within hours of the first phone call. It's why they can be tucked into a warm, dry stall and why they can finally eat, rest and heal.
You’re the reason they can finally be safe! Thank you!
