This project aims to secure essential funding to support our facility and sustain our 24-hour free services, including advocacy, rescue and rehabilitation (plus our own registered veterinary clinic) whilst also contributing to our research initiative to ensure the survival of these iconic species. SKER takes pride in its exceptional work in rescuing and rehabilitating South Australia's wildlife. However, running a facility of this quality incurs significant expense and we need your help.
The wild koala and echidna populations in South Australia are threatened due to land clearing for urban development. This has resulted in them having to survive in suburban areas, leading to increased incidents such as vehicle strikes, dog attacks, and disease from heightened stress. Regrettably, governmental support for wildlife in such situations is lacking, placing the responsibility on volunteer-based organisations like ours to rescue, rehabilitate & alleviate suffering.
SKER provides an essential free 24-hour rescue service to the community, specializing in the rehabilitation of koalas & echidnas. We are the only registered wildlife vet clinic in SA that provides a 24-hour rescue service. Through our unwavering commitment and the kind support of caring individuals like yourself, we will be able to increase our facilities and veterinary capacity to guarantee that every native animal in need is provided with the care they deserve.
We're driven by a deep understanding of wildlife behaviour that has resulted in the development of impactful wildlife solutions. With an increased capacity we can make meaningful change by advocating for real solutions because we believe prevention is better than a cure. Together, we can positively impact and build a better future for our wildlife and prevent the extinction of more Aussie icons.
