Help Rural Schools Rise from the Ground in Morocco

Since we last wrote to you, we welcomed the incredible Dental Mavericks to the High Atlas Mountains, a team of volunteers who transformed Tifaouine pre-school in Asni into a temporary dental clinic for children and young people. The school was one of the buildings we were able to restore thanks to your generous donations and the support of the 2023 'Climb Morocco' adventurers. We were thrilled the dental team could get on site to provide pain-free dental care for more than 300 patients.

We recently completed structural works to the Toussna study centre in Asni and unveiled the new-look facility in May. The centre now has a reference library with over one thousand text books and a dedicated technology room. During the week, the centre caters for local primary school pupils who participate in sessions at the centre. It has always been our vision for this project to be student-centred. We are confident that the facility will enable many more young people to realise their potential and propel Asni towards a much stronger future through education.

Secondary school students in Asni continue to attend classroom learning in Marrakech and its outskirts until the lycée is rebuilt. We have now received approval of the reconstruction plans from the architects and local government - an important milestone as we embark upon this extensive rebuilding project. 

Funds will be utilised to develop a fully equipped, modern school building with the best teaching facilities. Once construction commences, we will share more photos with you. 

Until that time, we will continue to provide materials for Baccalaureate students from Asni lyceé who are currently revising for their exams. Funds have also been utilised to restore essential drinking water infrastructures and meaningful community spaces to include a women's weaving centre and public hammam.
