First Health Awareness Open Day at the clinic proved to be a huge success!

Last October, our clinic in Uganda, held its first ever Health Awareness Day. A medical camp for people from the surrounding villages. It proved to be a great success with more than 600 visitors.

The day started with an aerobics class! After that there were several educational sessions and medical tests available. People could he screened for malaria, TB, HIV, various cancers, high blood pressure, diabetes, eye problems & dental complaints.

HEALTH AWARENESS CAMP HELD ON 11TH OCTOBER 2025

JMC is a Health Centre III facility located in Namugongo Jjanda. The facility is surrounded by many villages with a wide range of socioeconomic status, from wealthy homeowners, middle class and low-income earners.

These surrounding villages and communities have seen rapid growth within the last few years with a lot of new housing developments. Many of the new residents are not aware of JMC despite the fact that it is the nearest health facility, nor know the services offered.

This camp was legally carried out, authorised, approved and supported by Uganda Protestant Bureau on behalf of Ministry of Health, Uganda medical and dental practitioners council and Kira municipal council.

The various Camp services were successfully carried out by professional health workers. In total 620 patients attended both male and female.

311 people attended the general medical camp.

282 laboratory tests were carried out.

56 ultrasound scans were carried out.

63 people had chest X-rays in the mobile X-Ray van from the Ministry of Health.

101 women went to the midwifery department and 7 had an ultrasound.

150 people went to the eye camp of which 20 were given glasses.

50 people went to the dentist camp and received treatment.

Great Success

The camp proved to be a great success. JMC is grateful for all the support it received from the various Health partners and other local businesses and hopes to be able to repeat the camp at least once a year to create health awareness and the early diagnosis of possible illnesses.
