Ukrainian sappers risk their lives every day to clear deadly landmines and make communities safe again. Many return home with life-changing injuries. This project restores the physical and psychological well-being of injured deminers through prosthetics, rehabilitation, and trauma recovery-giving them the chance to walk, work, and live fully again.
Ukraine remains one of the most heavily mined countries in the world due to Russia's aggression. As of November 2024, over 160,000 hectares have been cleared and 500,000+ explosive devices neutralized. Sappers face daily danger-over 200 were injured in 2023 alone, 40% severely. Most require long-term rehabilitation and prosthetics. This ongoing campaign provides injured deminers across Ukraine with prosthetics, comprehensive rehabilitation, and psychological support.
The Foundation of Patron the Dog is a rapid-response initiative for sapper support. We provide immediate assistance by covering urgent medical expenses, funding prosthetics, and securing access to leading rehabilitation programs. We place special emphasis on long-term psychological recovery, as it is essential to restoring a full and independent life. Since 2023, we have provided prosthetic care to 10 sappers, ensuring they receive timely, specialised support tailored to their needs.
The project ensures long-term impact by restoring injured deminers' ability to live independently and contribute to society - by returning to demining or training new teams. Your support not only changes individual lives but also strengthens communities, builds an inclusive society, and ensures that those who protect us can thrive again.
