This project will provide year-round arts-based mental health and education programs for refugee children and youth in Azraq Camp, Jordan. Through murals, theatre, storytelling, and other collaborative arts, trained local artists will help participants build confidence, strengthen social connections, and express themselves in safe, supportive spaces.
Refugee children and youth in Azraq Camp have grown up with displacement, uncertainty, and limited opportunities for safe creative learning and self-expression. These pressures can affect mental health, confidence, relationships, and a sense of belonging. Young people need consistent spaces where they can connect with others, express what they are experiencing, and build skills in a supportive environment.
Artolution provides year-round, locally led programs where refugee children and youth create murals, theatre, stories, and performances together. Trained Syrian and Jordanian Teaching Artists guide activities that combine creative learning with psychosocial support, helping participants express themselves, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and explore issues that matter in their daily lives.
The project builds lasting local capacity by training and supporting artists who can continue leading programs within their own communities. In Artolution's 2025 programming in Jordan, 93% of participating youth reported reduced depression and anxiety symptoms, while 95% felt more connected to their community. Continued support will help more refugee children and youth access consistent creative programs while strengthening a locally led model that can grow across Jordan.
