Update on the Earthquake-Damaged Housing Rehabilitation Project in Talbiseh, Central Syria

By Mahmoud Al-Ali | Project leader

We extend our sincere gratitude for your continued support of our humanitarian efforts in Syria and for your commitment to assisting vulnerable and disaster-affected families.

We would like to share an update regarding the housing rehabilitation project for homes damaged by the earthquake in the Talbiseh area of northern Homs. Despite the ongoing and urgent need for this project, we have unfortunately been unable to carry out any new rehabilitation work during the recent period due to the prolonged suspension of funding and financial support dedicated to this program.

Dozens of families in the area continue to live in partially damaged homes or unsafe shelter conditions, facing cracked walls, damaged roofs, and other structural issues caused by the earthquake. Without sufficient financial resources, it has become increasingly difficult to address these growing needs or restore damaged homes to a safe and livable condition.

Over the past months, our field teams have continued to monitor affected families and document their needs. However, the lack of available funding has prevented us from launching a new phase of rehabilitation activities. As a result, many families who had hoped to repair their homes and regain a sense of stability and security remain in difficult living conditions.

We firmly believe that providing safe shelter is one of the most critical humanitarian priorities, especially as families continue to face economic hardship and are unable to afford the cost of repairs on their own.

For this reason, we hope to reactivate this vital project as soon as funding becomes available, enabling us to assist more affected families and help restore the stability they lost as a result of the earthquake.

Thank you for your continued trust and solidarity with vulnerable communities. We look forward to working together to create a lasting and meaningful impact in the lives of families affected by the earthquake in Syria.
