Following the demolition of the School of Second Chance in the Old Medina of Casablanca, Tibu Africa immediately mobilized to ensure that vulnerable children, youth, and women would continue to have access to educational, social inclusion, and employability opportunities.
The former School of Second Chance had served more than 1,200 beneficiaries and represented an important community hub. Its demolition created an urgent need to identify alternative solutions and preserve the impact built over several years.
Since the launch of this appeal, important progress has been achieved. Through close collaboration with public authorities and institutional partners, Tibu Africa secured alternative educational facilities and initiated rehabilitation efforts to ensure continuity of services for affected beneficiaries.
A first facility located in Derb Ghalef, Casablanca, was identified and rehabilitation works were undertaken to transform the site into a safe and functional learning environment. The facility is currently supporting educational and social inclusion activities while further improvements continue to strengthen its capacity and quality of services.
At the same time, Tibu Africa launched a second major initiative in Bouznika, Province of Benslimane. In partnership with the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the organization officially launched the first School of Second Chance dedicated to Sports Professions. This milestone was marked by the laying of the foundation stone and the signing of a partnership agreement to support vulnerable youth through education, training, and employability pathways.
Rehabilitation and development works at the Bouznika site are currently ongoing. Once completed, the facility will offer modern educational and training spaces designed to strengthen socio-economic inclusion and employability opportunities for young people in vulnerable situations.
During this reporting period, the project directly reached 271 beneficiaries through various education, sport, and socio-economic inclusion initiatives. This included 120 children through the Tibu Football Program, 115 youth through the School of Second Chance, Diaspora Sport Impact, and Orange Corners Sports Entrepreneurship programs, and 36 women and girls through the Girls CAN Initiative.
While meaningful progress has been made, the project remains in an active implementation phase. Rehabilitation works, infrastructure development, equipment installation, and educational planning continue across the new sites. Additional resources are still needed to complete the facilities, equip learning spaces, and ensure the long-term sustainability of these educational opportunities.
We sincerely thank all GlobalGiving donors and supporters for helping us transform a challenging situation into an opportunity to build stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable educational pathways for vulnerable communities across Morocco.
