Last week, on September 18th, a team of approximately 30 RAM volunteers departed from the United States for the island nation of Haiti. After arriving in the capital city, Port-Au-Prince, the team made their way to the remote village of Hinche, where RAM set-up its first mobile medical clinic at a small school. Hundreds of people, including many children, arrived to the school to receive free dental and medical care, including podiatry services!
After wrapping up the clinic in Hinche, the team traveled back to Port-Au-Prince, an area still recovering from the devastating earthquake in 2010. There, the team operated clinics at two prisons, serving hundreds of more people who were in desperate need of even the most basic of healthcare services. All in all, by the end of the operation, which finishes up tomorrow, RAM expects to have treated approximately 750 people, providing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of free dental and medical care.
Of course, our work in Haiti would not be possible without donors like you! In the photos below you will see RAM was recently able to purchase a new Honda diesel generator, allowing for the operation of crucial dental equipment in areas with less than reliable electric service. We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing our free services for the people of Haiti. We expect to return to Haiti in January of 2019 to again provide free care to people in need.
