Project Progress Report: Help Provide Shelter to 28,800 Women with Cancer
Patient Relief Mission (PRM) aims to provide accommodation for female cancer patients and their caregivers who travel from rural areas to Kampala for treatment at the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI). The project seeks to reduce the challenges patients face in finding a place to stay while undergoing treatment.
We have continued maintaining the compound at the Patient Relief Mission (PRM) facility as we work towards opening the hostel to female cancer patients and their caregivers. The maintenance work has helped keep the grounds in good condition while construction activities continue.
We have also continued erecting new structures at the facility. These works are part of the ongoing development of the hostel, which will provide accommodation for patients travelling from rural areas to Kampala for treatment at the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI).
The facility is not yet ready to receive patients, as some construction work and preparations are still ongoing. Slow funding has affected the pace of the work, while heavy rains continue to cause difficulties due to slippery surfaces and poor access around the area.
Our immediate focus is to continue maintaining the compound and progressing with the construction works until the facility is ready for use. We appreciate the support of our donors, which has enabled us to continue developing the facility.
