2019 Mobile Farm Workforce Pilot: Report #2

Pulling up 1.5 miles of drip tape and plastic
Pulling up 1.5 miles of drip tape and plastic

Greetings everyone.

Thank you, again, for your generosity towards the Mobile Farm Workforce Pilot Project.

We kicked off Year 2 of the pilot in early September and have accumulated more than160 hours of on-farm work along the Northern Front Range of Colorado in our first two weeks.

To date, we have moved ~700 bales of hay, gathered and bound 325 decorative corn stalks, moved multiple corral gates, and installed hundreds of yards of temporary fencing to help a farm prepare for its busy fall season. On another farm, we pulled up 1.5 miles of drip tape and plastic from growing beds.

We have gotten interest this year from farms along Colorado's Western Slope and may be traveling to the Paonia area to help farmers harvest later in September or in early October (details are still being worked out).

We will also travel this season to Fort Collins as well as continue our work in the Metro Denver area.

We continue to build our Workforce roster and are seeking additional veterans, as well as individuals from our local refugee community. Also, we have held initiatial conversations with the Colorado Department of Corrections about offering individuals who are nearing the release of their incerations an opportunity to work on farms and ranches in Colorado.

We look forward to updating you in a few weeks!
