This project will provide 82 rescue horses with quality hay for one month. Many of the horses at The Foxie G Foundation come to us from neglect situations or have been saved from being slaughtered in Mexico and Canada. With good care and nutrition, most are able to be placed in loving, adoptive homes. Horses that can not be adopted live out their days on our farm in a sanctuary setting.
Over 110,000 horses in the United States ship to Mexico and Canada to be slaughtered for human consumption each year. Other unwanted horses suffer from neglect and inadequate care. Our organization takes in what horses we are able to and provide them with loving care and adequate nutrition. Our goal is to place these horses into loving, adoptive homes. We also offer permanent retirement to horses which we deem not adoptable due to age, physical or behavioral problems.
Our project will help to provide good quality hay and nutrition to horses in need.
We placed 49 horses into adoptive homes in 2017 and offered sanctuary to 38 more. At any given time , we have an additional 40 horses in our adoption or rehabilitation programs. We monitor all of our horses for their entire remaining lives and they can always come back home if need be. Every horse that enters our program is one less horse destined to slaughter or a life of neglect.
