Hello everyone!
With the donations we had recieved ($627) we decided to go ahead and build even a smaller version of our much needed space to give the women who work there a place to get out of the terrible heat. This we achieved using our own trees and a local donation.
Then a tornado came and destroyed half of our nursery, leaving the little trees exposed to the elements. Again we rallied volunteers and rebuilt a part of the nursery, using local materials (bamboo) and with a loan to buy the special plastic used.
We rebuilt part, but are desperatly in need of funds to finish this work!
Climate change is real. Costa Rica is one of the countries most affected- our region is subject to torrential rains. ASIREA is absolutely commited to continueing our work. We have not given up- but this situation has led to lower production, making our mission even more difficult.
Please, if you believe in planting trees at all, you donation-no matter how small- does count. Your contribution wil be seen in the reconstruction of the nursery of over 80,000 trees for 2017. Become a tree planter! Donate to ASIREA!
