The day program for psychosocial rehabilitation Solidarnost has been functioning for more than 16 years and has helped many men and women of different ages, education levels, professions, ethnic backgrounds and so on who live in Sofia, Bulgaria, to overcome their addiction to alcohol, drugs or gambling and start a better, healthier life. We need your help now to continue helping the vulnerable people who have gathered the courage to start walking on the path to recovery, self-care and love.
People who suffer from addiction in Bulgaria face many challenges - they are often stigmatized and marginalized and access to detox or rehabilitation is may be difficult. The organizations that provide services for them are also vulnerable - government funding is neither stable nor sufficient and, as a result, many non-governmental organizations and services have closed down or are forced to collect high participation fees from people who need their help and their families.
The Solidarnost day program is the only one of its kind in Sofia, Bulgaria's capital and is based on the therapeutic community model - a proven method for addiction treatment. With the help of qualified professionals, the participants achieve a better understanding of themselves and the personal difficulties that led to their addiction, explore and develop their potential, learn how to recognize and express their emotions constructively, how to build healthy relationships and practice self-care.
Your support will enable us to continue providing high-quality professional help to those who need it. It will let the people benefiting from the services complete their treatment which has substantial long-term positive effects for them and their families - most people who complete the program are healthy, continue their education, find jobs and a new healthy environment for themselves and so on. They have the opportunity to become active members of their communities and accomplish their goals.
