In Kenya, breast and cervical cancers are the leading causes of cancer related deaths among women.The low class is most affected.For single and needy mothers,a cancer diagnosis is like a death sentence because of the cost of treatment. Kenya's mandatory Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme requires consistent annual premiums to unlock treatment benefits.Without a steady income due to illness, these mothers cannot afford the USD 60 annual renewal fee. They have children who solely depend on them.

Solution

We shall fully fund annual SHA insurance premiums for 50 vulnerable single mothers across 5 highly affected counties in Kenya in the next 3 months.With support, we can reach more women. By covering these premiums, we instantly unlock their access to comprehensive government subsidized cancer treatments, including essential diagnostic imaging, chemotherapy cycles, surgical operations, and prescription medications. We shall remove this gap which disrupts treatment, we shall prolong their lives.

Long-Term Impact

We shall keep 50 mothers alive and prevent their children from becoming homeless,orphans and school drop outs.We shall assure them economic security because they will avoid falling into debts breaking the cycle of medical induced poverty.We shall contribute to community led health solutions across 5 major counties and support government and stakeholders efforts against cancer.We shall reduce poverty even for their families.We shall reduce unnecessary suffering and early deaths.
