Every Prenatal Visit Brings New Hope

By Ibrahim Larre | Project manager

Over the past few months, UPFN has continued to provide essential healthcare services to women and girls through its Women's Health Center in Niamey. Our medical team has delivered prenatal consultations, reproductive health education, and nutritional guidance while continuing to work with aging equipment. Despite these challenges, every consultation has helped women identify potential pregnancy risks earlier and access the care they need before complications arise. We have also continued providing dignity kits and health awareness sessions to support women and adolescent girls in protecting their health.

Recently, we met Halima (name changed for privacy), a young mother expecting her first child. Like many women in Niger, she delayed seeking prenatal care because of financial barriers and limited access to health services. After arriving at our center, she received comprehensive prenatal monitoring, counseling, and personalized support from our midwives. The reassurance and guidance she received throughout her pregnancy helped her feel prepared and confident as she approached childbirth. Stories like hers remind us that quality healthcare is not only about medical equipment—it is also about trust, compassion, and early intervention.

While we continue working toward replacing our ultrasound machine, our commitment to women and girls remains stronger than ever. Every day, our team combines healthcare with education, leadership mentoring, and empowerment programs to help women build healthier futures for themselves and their families. Step by step, these efforts are contributing to stronger communities where mothers, daughters, and future generations have greater opportunities to thrive.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us continue bringing hope, dignity, and quality healthcare to women across Niger.
