HELP NIGERIA GIRLS : FREE EDUCATION & CLEAN WATER

This month, Fageli Good Health Advocacy and Lifestyle Foundation visited our usual secondary school in the FHA Lugbe community in Abuja to support children who are at risk of dropping out of school due to financial hardship.

During our visit, we met with the school principal and asked her to identify students from very poor families who were struggling to pay their school fees. The principal carefully selected several students who are orphans or children currently living with relatives such as aunts and uncles who are themselves facing serious financial challenges.

Our project is mainly focused on supporting the girl child, but among the students presented to us were also a few boys who were equally vulnerable and at risk of leaving school. Seeing their difficult situations, we could not turn them away. Compassion moved us to include them, because every child deserves the opportunity to stay in school and build a better future.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we were able to pay the school fees for these students for the current term. Even more importantly, we have made a commitment to continue supporting them until they complete their secondary school education. This promise gives these young students hope and stability, allowing them to focus on their studies without the fear of being sent home due to unpaid fees.

The gratitude from the students and school staff was overwhelming. For these children, this support represents more than just school fees  it represents hope, encouragement, and the belief that someone cares about their future.

During our discussion with the principal, she also shared another serious concern. The school toilets are currently in very poor condition and there is no reliable water supply. Because of this, many students are forced to relieve themselves around the school environment, creating serious sanitation and health risks for the entire school community.

This has highlighted an urgent need for improved sanitation and access to clean water, and it is an area we hope to address in the future with continued support.
