Promoting Hygiene and Dignity Among School Girls

At Fageli Good Health Advocacy and Lifestyle Foundation, we continue our mission to support young girls in underserved schools through practical health and hygiene initiatives.

After providing school uniforms and sandals earlier in the year, we returned to Piweyi Primary School in Abuja to build on that effort this time focusing on personal hygiene and cleanliness. We distributed detergents to the schoolgirls and used the opportunity to teach them how to maintain their uniforms and practice good hygiene habits.

For many of these children, regular access to hygiene supplies is a challenge. By giving them detergent and simple hygiene education, we are helping them stay clean, confident, and healthy especially important for girls during their menstrual periods.

Teachers shared encouraging feedback, noting that the girls now take pride in their appearance and come to school in cleaner uniforms. Parents also expressed appreciation, saying it has helped reduce minor skin irritations and improved the children’s overall well-being.

Although our limited resources meant we could only support a section of the pupils this time, we remain hopeful that with continued support from GlobalGiving and our kind donors, we can expand this effort to reach more schools and children.
