Project Report | May 17, 2024
For a life free of violence against girls

By LUIS ENRIQUE ELIZALDE | LIDER DE PROYECTOS DE EDUCACION

We are closing another school year with new achievements!

The end of the school year is approaching and with it we have achieved new goals. As part of the "Vesta: Walking Together" Program, we have reached 3 schools in contexts of social and economic vulnerability, in 3 states of Mexico: Tlaxcala, Chihuahua and the State of Mexico.

So far, we have impacted 150 girls and boys, through playful sessions, and 37 teachers and 75 parents with experiential and participatory workshops

The teachers are replicating the topics with their students and the Yo quiero Yo puedo team has made follow-up visits to support this work and reaffirm each of the topics.

To contribute to the elimination of violence against girls, due to gender inequalities that violate human rights and deprive girls of education, health and opportunities, we focus on the following topics:

  • Patriarchal system and other systems of oppression
  • Macro and micromachismos
  • Normalization and Prevention of violence (Identification of gender violence)
  • Alternative masculinities
  • Historical contribution of women

Also, life skills are the fundamental pillar of the work in the classrooms, so we want to make sure that every child knows how to work on their self-knowledge, have significant changes in the management and expression of their emotions, in their empathy, in communicating assertively, in teamwork, in their critical and creative thinking.

There are still some sessions to conclude and soon we will share the results of this stage, but we want this to keep moving forward and make it bigger and bigger, that more states of Mexico and more schools join to promote knowledge from a gender perspective, in alternative masculinities, reduce violence in the families of our students and thus eradicate violence against girls and women.

You are our greatest supporter!

You can help us reach many more girls and boys, more communities and more states!

Girls and boys will thank you!
