Throughout this period, we exceed the goals!
Thanks to your support, from June to August, we achieved to carry out the Risk Prevention Program with young people in the state of Hidalgo in 3 high schools, where 163 young promoters were trained in violence prevention, promotion of their sexual and reproductive rights, prevention of sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancy, in addition to strengthening their life skills (Self-knowledge, empathy, assertive communication, emotional management and critical thinking) and build up their skills as scholar promoters. Each workshop lasted 30 hours, with a participatory and experiential methodology.
Once they were trained as scholar promoters, the students held educational-interactive fairs, where they shared their knowledge and practical skills through games with their schoolmates. This strategy had an impact on 1,408 students from their own schools and were able to learn about the thematic areas as protective factors in youth.
Finally, to reinforce comprehensive training, 512 mothers, fathers and caregivers of young people from the participating schools, were sensitized on the topics of life skills, family life cycle and meaning of life. In this way, the reach of our program impacts the educational community and families.
The set of these strategies has served to empower our young people to become agents of change, only in this way can they positively impact their schools and communities, as evidenced by the following testimony:
"I learned the different types of masculinities and the general objective of the topics from my peers such as the types of violence (it is not only one type of violence), the correct use of condoms (I must take care of myself when I have sexual relations), as well as the importance of my physical and mental health, what would happen if I get into the world of drugs, and it helped me the day of the educational fair to analyze that there are different types of people and personalities." Age: 16 years old, male.
We are starting a new school cycle and your support will be important to double our goals and reach more young people, training them as promoters and preventing risks and school dropouts!
