During 2023 we have continued with the training of young people for the prevention of dating violence, sexually transmitted Infections, unplanned pregnancy, as well as sexual and reproductive rights and development of life skills.
During the months of February to May 2023 we have trained 114 young people as promoters in risk prevention, through 30-hour workshops applying an experiential and participatory methodology. Once the training was completed, our team of promoters created recreational activities that were presented through fairs to replicate the contents and key messages with students from their schools in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico; We have reached more than 1,100 young people so that they can be agents of change in their lives and their communities.
Our comprehensive program also contemplates the participation of mothers and fathers of students to raise their awareness of the main issues. So far, we have reached more than 460 mothers and fathers from 3 high school schools with one-hour workshops. The impact has been positive, as we see in the following testimony from a mother:
“My daughter told me about the workshops she participated in the” I want to I can “program and she is very happy with the way of teaching because activities are very fun and at the same time she learns about her care. I think it is important that these topics are included. We as parents do not have the knowledge to talk to them about sexually transmitted infections or how we can use communication instead of being violent, hopefully they will be there next semester and give us more talks “.43 year old, woman.
Based on the results we want to increase the number of promoters, students, and parents to following with workshops and activities to facilitate the empowerment of participants, so they take the control of their own lives in a healthy way.
