Spring 2021
By Anna Short | Program Director
We have had a significant increase in pump requests from this time last year. Many grants have been given to families in need over the past year due to a large number of babies being born and an increase in need in the community with higher unemployment and more families applying for assistance due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We are happy to have funds available to provide free hospital grade breast pumps to members of our community. An increase in funds coming in would allow us to offer more as our in person fundraisers have not been able to be held this year. Donations to our project through GlobalGiving continue to be integral to our pump grant program. Your donations are always noticed and appreciated. Your support means the world to Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon.

Wrapping Up 2020
By Anna Short | Program Director
This year is almost over and Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon isn't sad to see it go. However, not everything has been horrible in 2020. We have had more time to slow down and consider what's most important in our lives and the future of the organization. Improvements have been made to streamline our warmline and make it easier to contact our breastfeeding peer counselors via text and social media messaging. Our website is looking amazing and it is much more user friendly. Most importantly, we have been able to give more grants to families in need this year than we ever have! Donors through GlobalGiving and a few other sources have enabled us to give free hospital grade breast pump rentals to six families who needed help with supply issues, to pump for babies in the NICU, and frontline workers going back to work after maternity leave. Thank you for making this possible! This year was a year to come through for our community and because of your generosity we were able to do that. Here's to a much better 2021 ! Take care of yourself and those you love and remember that NMC of Oregon is always here to help.

Summer 2020
By Anna Short | Director
During Covid-19 we have had a strong uptick in need for grants for hospital grade breast pumps as well as more families reaching out to receive peer support. Due to the lack of access to in person support through county services like WIC we have had many more calls than usual and due to so many people being laid off of their jobs, NMC has increased pump grants to two per month. Our fundraising has been severely limited because of cancelled events but we were able to maintain our goal of giving to the community. We are so grateful that we are still getting donations and that we've found a safe and effective way to help low income families with breastfeeding support during this pandemic. Thank you for all your wonderful support. You have made all the difference.
