Blue Faery's mission is to prevent, treat, and cure primary liver cancer, specifically Hepatocellular Carcinoma, through research, education, and advocacy. Our work enhances the quality of life for HCC patients, supports their caregivers, and provides them with hope, information, and a voice.
Blue Faery's Love Your Liver program is having one of the most successful years to date! In September/October, our Hispanic Heritage Month Campaign featured two key opinion leaders: Dr. Andrés Gómez-Aldana, a gastroenterologist and Liver Cancer Researcher, and Dr. María Rita Lepe-Suastegui, a Gastroenterologist and Transplant Hepatologist. The campaign, conducted in Spanish, garnered 1,062 registrants, 355,988 digital impressions, and 4,908 landing page views. Additionally, 540 different media sites picked up the press release.
Blue Faery's latest initiative, HCC Lunch & Learns, had its first in-person program in September in Dallas, Texas. We partnered with a multi-disciplinary team of physicians from UT Southwestern Medical Center, HCC patients, survivors, and caregivers for the event. The purpose of the program is to provide at-risk populations with live education about liver disease and cancer in their local communities. We aim to educate the public on learning why and how liver disease and cancer occur, its symptoms, and available treatment options; discovering how multi-disciplinary teams work together, medical education and treatment resources available to patients and families in their communities; understanding the role of different therapies with primary liver cancer, especially for transplant versus non-transplant eligible patients, and; the opportunity to hear stories from patients, families, and survivors about their experience with HCC.
