Blue Faery's mission is to prevent, treat, and cure primary liver cancer, specifically Hepatocellular Carcinoma, through research, education, and advocacy. Our work improves the quality of life for HCC patients, supports their caregivers, and gives them hope, information, and a voice.
Blue Faery's Love Your Liver program is having one of the most successful years to date! In February, our Black History Month Campaign hosted two key opinion leaders: Dr. Cristal Brown, a GI and Transplant Hepatologist from UT Health Austin, and Dr. Lewis Roberts, a GI and Liver Cancer Researcher from the Mayo Clinic. Our AAPI Month Campaign in May hosted Dr. Daneng Li, a medical oncologist from City of Hope in Duarte, California. The three campaigns had 4,112 registrants, 749,235 digital impressions, 6,973 landing page views, and 132,316 press release impressions.
Blue Faery's newest program is HCC Lunch & Learns. The purpose of this program is to provide at-risk populations with live education about liver disease and cancer in their local communities. The goals and objectives of this program include: learning why and how liver disease and cancer occur, its symptoms, and available treatment options; discovering how multi-disciplinary teams work together and additional resources available to patients and families in their communities; understanding the role of different therapies with HCC, especially for transplant versus non-transplant eligible patients, and; hearing stories from patients, families, and survivors about their experience with HCC.
We are partnering with healthcare providers, health systems, and community centers to create robust in-person programs featuring presentations about liver health, liver disease, and liver cancer. We will also work with local support groups to showcase patients, caregivers, and survivors. Our first HCC Lunch & Learn is in Dallas, Texas, in late September. All HCC Lunch & Learns are free to the public and include a healthy lunch. All are welcome, and we hope to meet some of you in person someday!
