Challenge

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the number of documented deaths caused by the war in Ukraine was at least 9,758 as of 1 December 2016, with more than 2,300 of them being civilians. It have been killed 68 and wounded 180 kids. At the Donbass territory controlled by Ukraine destroyed 60% of health facilities; about 60% of population de-facto cannot have a first medical service.

Solution

At this very moment we are collecting donations to purchase medical equipment for Luhansk regional children's hospital, located in Donbass (Lysychansk city). Please, follow the video from our last visit there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnfWJACsREs During the visit to the hospital, the representatives of our organization donated new neonatal stethoscopes to the doctors. The new medical equipment will increase the level of medical diagnostic and urgent help.

Long-Term Impact

In Luhansk region it is currently 112,000 children. Before the military conflict was the infant mortality rate in this region 11,4 to 1000 newborns. In 2015, this figures rose to 22-24 per 1 000 newborns. Thanks to equipment for premature from donors, the infants mortality statistics has decreased to 14 on 1000 newborns in May 2016. Our aim is to support the Children hospital in Luhansk region.
