Dina told her abusive husband in Spain that she was going home to the USA with her daughter Celeste to visit her parents for a month over the summer. He agreed. It was Dina's chance to escape his ongoing abuse. Since they had been living in Spain for over one year, Dina knew her husband may file kidnapping charges against her if she didn't return Celeste to Spain.
Dina suspected her husband was sexually abusing Celeste. When Dina arrived home to the USA she immediately contacted Pathways.
We were able to get a child abuse evaluation conducted by a professional counselor for Celeste and an attorney for Dina.
When she didn't return, her husband threatened to file a Hague Petition for international child abduction. Dina was ready with the counselor's report confirming the suspected sexual abuse of Celeste.
Her husband backed down. Dina still has to go through divorce proceedings, but because of donors like you, Celeste will be able to stay at home in the USA with her mother and be safe.
Thank you for caring about keeping battered American mothers and their abused children safe!
