Josephine's Story in Her Own Words:
I am 20 years old and come from Layamo village in northern Uganda. I have been in Outreach Uganda's sponsorship program since 2019 when I was entering 7th grade. I was really desperate for help. I knew my parents could not afford secondary school in Uganda and if I did not get a sponsor--this would be the end of my education.
When I realized a sponsor had been found, I became alert and hopeful about fulfilling my dream! Before being enrolled in this program, I was hopeless, doubtful and never knew I could make it up to this level of education. It seemed my future was never bright.
I am so appreciative of my sponsors and if it had not been because of them I would have been in the village doing peasant farming activities. This program has made me respectful and I have a sense of responsibility with my family, my community around me and everywhere I go.
I am so grateful for my sponsors who supported me from 7th grade when I knew nothing of my nursing goal. And now I am almost making it in life!

[Josephine will soon be in her last semester of a 3 year vocational nursing program and expects to graduate next year.
Josephine has been fortunate to have the same sponsor during these past 7 years. For most girls, that is not the case. We usually have a shortage of sponsors at the exact needed time, life changes happen to sponsors and they quit, the final years of vocational school are very expensive compared to secondary and primary schooling costs. Some sponsors cannot afford the higher costs.
We know that if we miss the critical times of paying school fees, then this child can drop out and be lost forever as far as completing their schooling. That is why this project is so important and a key component of our education programming.
You are why we are able to stand in the gap at these critical times and make sure girls can complete their education and especially the final time of vocational training.
Please share this report with others who are interested in girls' education and giving them brighter futures so they can avoid early marriage and are not enticed into the world of human trafficking and prostitution.]
With thankfulness for all your support!
