Catherine was one of the first three girls from her community to attend secondary school (7th to 12th grade) as part of our Girls' Education Initiative Program. She struggled through 7th to 10th grade because she did not have any help with her early years of education until five years ago when she joined our sponsorship program.
I had the good fortune to be able to talk with Catherine when I was in northern Uganda earlier this month. She branched to vocational school in February this year and is very happy with the business administration course she is taking. She found employment with a local NGO during her holiday break and is now earning a small amount of money. You can feel her enthusiasm and confidence as she talks about her future!
Shortly after I talked with Catherine, I met with seven girls who are in 6th grade at the Agwata school where we work. They will be taking very important year end national exams at the beginning of November. These girls are also very confident and excited about their prospects for the future, and hoping to do well on these exams. As an NGO we stand ready to help these sixth grade girls continue on to 7th grade if they complete their exams successfully.
But we could do nothing without your help. We thank you so much for your support through donations to this project which helps us help these girls achieve their dreams for a bright future.
