This project allows Jean to continue pursuing his online higher education in Professional Development, by equipping him with required technology, providing training in business and communication courses, and nourishing him with daily meals. He will also continue receiving mentoring and job placement assistance, with the goal of securing a job in Haiti after graduation.
In 2010, Haiti lost 28 of 32 higher education institutions in the earthquake. Haiti has an extreme demand for educated workers, but without access to higher learning, Haitians remain uneducated and unemployed. Haiti is a country full of potential for self-reliance, a goal overshadowed by poverty. Providing the means for Haitians like Jean to become educated and gainfully employed helps alleviate poverty, one student at a time.
Through Life Connection Mission's division, Haitian Connection Network, students are able to earn online higher education. At the Student Computer Center in Montrouis, Haiti, Jean has access to the internet, a laptop, online higher education programs, on-site tech help and staff, business mentors, & hands-on seminars. Jean also receives 1 meal per day to help him focus. Through HCN, Jean also receives job placement assistance to help him secure gainful employment in Haiti following graduation.
A friendly person, Jean is a hard worker and loves to collaborate on a team. After graduation in 2016, he would like to work in Business management. This opportunity for higher education and job placement assistance means that Jean, and other Haitians like him, can become more economically stable, and better able to provide for themselves and their families.
