From Burden to Brightness: Empowering Girls

By Ashok Dandpat | Project Lead

In rural India, many young girls face the risk of being pulled out of school due to poverty and domestic responsibilities. At SANTI, we are actively changing that narrative.

Empowerment through Safe Learning Spaces -
This quarter, we’ve continued our outreach and counseling programs, working closely with families to ensure that girls stay enrolled in school. Our volunteers personally visited homes to raise awareness about the long-term benefits of girls’ education from economic independence to delayed child marriage.

Supplemental Learning Support -
We organized group study sessions and mentorship circles to help girls build academic confidence and stay engaged with schoolwork, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds. The girls are showing remarkable improvement in their communication and critical thinking abilities.

Cyber Safety Awareness: Protecting Girls in the Digital World -
In October 2025, our adolescent girls participated in the Cyber Safety Awareness Campaign hosted at Rajgangpur Police Station. Led by key officials like SP Sundargarh, IIC and police staff, the session covered critical topics such as safe online practices, social media responsibility and identifying digital threats. Each girl received a certificate of participation, boosting their digital confidence and sense of responsibility.

Tailoring Training Boosts Opportunity -
Our 3rd batch of tailoring training continues successfully, with 30 girls gaining valuable hands-on skills. In a milestone development:

  • 4 girls have launched their own tailoring businesses, earning approximately 8,000/month. These success stories serve as an inspiration for others to dream bigger.

Every day, these girls are proving that when given the chance, they are not just survivors they are leaders in the making.

With gratitude,
