We are so grateful for the incredible support we received in our campaign to help cover university costs for our deserving group of Grade 12 students. We're proud 100% of our students have been accepted to university, but not always with full financial aid. NSFAS is South Africa's financial aid program, which many of our students rely on to cover university costs. Oftentimes, it can take 1-2 months to begin, so Imagine Scholar provides support for bus tickets, book money, or 1st month's rent through our Sustainable Student Opportunity Fund, a no-interest loan that any student can apply for and later repay so future youth can use as well.
In the South African school system, Grade 12 students complete an end-of-year, comprehensive exam, called the matric. The scores from these exams determine final acceptance into university. Our most recent class of Grade 12 students anxiously awaits their results, which will be released in late January. Then they will gain their official acceptance letters into university. We can’t wait to see where they each end up, and to provide essential support in the early days of getting settled away from home, thanks to the generosity of everyone who supported this campaign.
