Homeless Diamonds at St Mungo's

Homeless Diamonds will celebrate its 10th anniversary with an exhibition and performance of poetry and music at Diorama Arts Studios in Euston in August. We will be their first exhibition in their new (classy and glassy) space near the site of their old centre which was levelled to make way for the large new business development.

We’ll share the space with other organisations supporting vulnerable people, including Café Art and Clothing the Homeless: August will be a great time to visit the new Diorama Arts Studios.

Thanks to the generosity of the family and friends of the late Anshu Asthana, we are able to carry on the work of this dedicated St Mungo’s volunteer in empowering marginalised people to develop their talents and contribute their ideas and experience to the wider community. The Anshu Asthana Memorial fund will support two other exhibitions this year, the first at Omnibus Arts Centre in Clapham Common, also in August, displaying the work of three photographers who contribute to Homeless Diamonds magazine. Later in the year, also at Omnibus, we will mount the first Anshu Asthana Memorial Exhibition, envisaged to occur annually to give a public platform to marginalised artists and performers. This first memorial exhibition will be a tribute to Anshu, showing his own artwork along with work by commuity artists in Clapham.

Here at Homeless Diamonds, after a short break for the Christmas and New Year period we are now back in full swing and concentrating on the year ahead with the usual commitment that we have always had and the consistency is showing in our group work which is working extremely well and it shows with everyone getting involved in a new Collective Poetry Group which we have decided to call Spirits Rebellious.

It is important that I mention to all our readers that after 6 months of discussion and consultation regarding changing our title name there was very little support expressed for a change of name and wide approval of our present name. It has therefore been agreed by the Editorial Committee that we will remain Homeless Diamonds, and the matter is now closed.

In August we will be celebrating our 10th year of publication and we hope to be holding an exhibition to mark an amazing milestone but sadly I am not in a position to give any information in relation to a venue at this time but I will be creating a Facebook Page and will be able to update you all that way.

As always I want to thank each and every one of you for the support shown to us and especially as we approach our 10th year Anniversary as quite simply we would not be here without you all so Homeless Diamonds salute you all for your support.
