Hello from Global Sorority,
We have recently returned from South Africa where we’ve been working to support the Helderberg rape crisis center and facilitating leadership education to young women from the Lwandle Township. We also brought in eight North American university graduates who had taken the Elements of Success leadership program with us in advance of this trip. They were all given an opportunity to co-facilitate the course to the young women in South Africa, and they fully immerse themselves in this experience and a global sisterhood that will deeply and positively effect the lives of everyone involved for years to come.
Loretta and myself donated 500 hours of our time to this global leadership initiative and will continue to support the program directors and young women who took part in this successful venture.
We are also solidifying plans for Lebanon this fall where we will be partnering with Run for a cause and the Beirut marathon. Bringing girls leadership education to the American community school in Beirut and refugee students as well. Up to 20 of the young women will be running in conjunction with the marathon and as part of their leadership development.
Our Global Sorority Chapter girls in Mexico have almost completed their first community project and will help to create educational opportunities for other young women in the city of Merida. We have one full time volunteer there who has dedicated the past three moths to this group and making sure they get continued project management education and skill building, that will help them to meet their goals and create sustainability for Global Sorority chapters in Latin America.
So far all of this has been done because of you and our fully volunteer staff. We are growing so fast and meeting the needs of so many young women around the world that we are having trouble keeping up with the demand and continuing to work solely as a volunteer ran initiative.
We would love to have an online platform to connect all of these girls around the world together in a safe learning environment, with mentorship and support, and to also continue our local and global outreach. To help Global Sorority continue to reach our goals, grow and be sustainable, we need to take care of our administration and program cost as well as things such as web building, program development, chapter creations, and our US 501c3 start up costs. That’s why your support of this initiative is so vital and we thank you for your contribution to making this happen, and for your faith in us and our work.
With Gratitude
Tia Kelly
