Dear friends,
I’m excited to share some good news from the Valuable Girl project.
This month, 3,000 Big and Little Sisters received their psychological capital training to grow their “HERO” attributes: Hope, Efficacy, Resilience, and Optimism. The psychological capital training is just the beginning of an exciting journey, where the girls enrolled in the project participate for twenty-four months to help them live the life they envision for themselves.
Many of these girls face daily struggles, whether it’s being bullied about their hair or body shape, judged for their social status, or simply oppressed because they are female. These challenges leave girls of all ages vulnerable to countless harmful social practices. On top of that, they often internalize the distorted images that others impose on them.
This is why the training is so important. We designed the psychological capital training to help the Big Sisters (18-23 years old) and the Little Sisters (10-12 years old) grow their inner strength, increase their resilience, and unlock their full potential. The girls learn to reframe their self-perception, develop a positive view of their roles in life and society, manage stress effectively, and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.
The psychological capital training creates a safe, supportive environment where girls can openly share their feelings and experiences. By the end, each girl leaves with a powerful toolkit she can use anytime, anywhere, to face whatever life throws at her.
Thanks to your generous donations, these girls are receiving high-quality training that helps them become stronger, more confident, and ready to take on the world.
