Dear Sweetheart Supporters,
Every wheelchair tells a story.
Not a story about recycling.
Not a story about fundraising.
A story about freedom.
The freedom to go to school.
The freedom to leave the house.
The freedom to visit family, attend appointments, and participate in everyday life.
Over the past few months, your support has helped us place life-changing mobility equipment into the hands of South Africans who needed it most.
Today, we'd like to introduce you to three of them.
A 4-Year-Old's First Steps Towards Independence
Earlier this year, a four-year-old child received a custom mobility device valued at R5,500.
For their family, this wasn't simply a wheelchair. It was an opportunity for greater participation, greater comfort, and more active engagement with the world around them during some of the most important developmental years of childhood.
A 7-Year-Old Ready for the Journey Ahead
At just seven years old, another young beneficiary received a specialised wheelchair valued at R12,000. Proper mobility support during childhood is about far more than movement. It supports healthy development, access to education, social interaction, and the confidence to explore the world with greater independence.
Because of supporters like you, that journey can continue.
Restoring Dignity at 78
Mobility challenges do not only affect children.
This year, a 78-year-old beneficiary received a specialised mobility device valued at R16,000.
For older adults, appropriate mobility equipment can mean the difference between isolation and participation. It can restore independence, improve quality of life, and allow individuals to remain active within their families and communities.
That is exactly what your support helps make possible.
The Real Value of a Wheelchair
Together, these three mobility devices represented an investment of R33,500.
But their true value cannot be measured in Rand.
A wheelchair is not simply a piece of equipment.
It is access.
Access to education.
Access to healthcare.
Access to opportunity.
Access to dignity.
Every bottle top is collected.
Every bread tag saved.
Every donation made.
Every volunteer hour given.
All of it contributes to moments like these.
Growing the Movement Behind the Impact
While individual lives continue to be transformed, the movement itself continues to grow.
The Sweethearts Foundation now supports more than 135 Collection Points across South Africa, creating opportunities for schools, businesses, families, and communities to participate in meaningful impact.
We have continued to expand our volunteer network, strengthen partnerships, and increase awareness of both environmental sustainability and mobility inclusion.
Every new collection point creates another opportunity for change.
Every new volunteer expands our reach.
Every supporter strengthens the foundation upon which this work is built.
Why Your Support Matters More Than Ever
Demand for mobility assistance remains high.
At the same time, recycling values fluctuate, transport costs continue to rise, and operational expenses increase as our national footprint grows.
Yet every day, families continue to reach out asking for help.
Every day, we meet individuals whose lives could be transformed through access to appropriate mobility equipment.
And every day, we are reminded that there is still much more work to do.
You Can Help Change Another Life
Whether you support us through a donation, by collecting recyclables, by volunteering your time, or by sharing our story, you are helping to create opportunities for someone who may otherwise go without the mobility support they need.
One wheelchair changes one life.
One community can change many.
Together, we can continue building a South Africa where mobility, dignity, and independence are accessible to all.
Thank you for standing alongside us and helping turn everyday actions into life-changing impact.
Yours in impact,
The Sweethearts Foundation
