The Nasio Trust's Porridge Kitchen has transformed into something more than just a feeding programme for malnourished children. It has now become a healthcare hub that empowers the attending mothers to earn an income and learn more about providing their family with the right kind of nutrition.
Out of the 19 children present, 18 had gained weight, categorized as follows:
The group of mothers have become financially empowered through Nasio's table banking session and have saved approximately 2660 shillings from the soap-making activity, managed by the treasurer. They have additional 5000 contributed for next year’s project. They have also gained essential knowledge on family planning from the community healthcare nurse.
In the new year, Nasio's community health volunteers will be conducting further field visits into villages around Nasio to identify families and children in need of support through teh Porridge Kitchen.
We would like to thank all our supporters for making the Porridge Kitchen a reality and for changing the lives of so many vulnerable people. We wish you a very happy New Year!
