The number of Ukrainian refugees living in the Republic of Moldova has increased once again, reaching over 110,000 people. This project will renovate the Ukrainian Language and Culture Center at Alecu Russo State University of Balti, the only institution in Moldova that trains teachers of Ukrainian language and culture. The modernization will create safe, modern spaces for study, and international cooperation, supporting the Ukrainian minority in northern Moldova.
The Ukrainian Language and Culture Center lacks proper facilities, furniture, and modern equipment, which limits the quality of teaching, scientific work, and cooperation with Ukrainian universities. The outdated space cannot fully support Ukrainian students, teachers, or cultural activities, reducing the Center's ability to preserve and promote Ukrainian language and culture in Moldova.
The project will renovate the Center by repairing the floor, adding modern furniture, and providing an interactive board and computer. It will create a functional, comfortable, and modern space for teaching, cultural events, and online cooperation with Ukrainian universities, strengthening support for Ukrainian students and the preservation of their language and culture.
The renovated Center will ensure long-term quality training for Ukrainian language teachers, strengthen cultural preservation, and support Ukrainian students in Moldova. It will enhance cooperation with universities in Ukraine, promote Ukrainian identity, and provide a sustainable space for educational and cultural activities that positively impact the community for many years.
