The project will provide safe drinking water, food and other immediate relief to the flooded communities in the Metro Manila, particularly in Barangay Commonwealth, Payatas, Talayan and Tondo, as well as, the nearby municipalities of Montalban and Rodriquez in the Rizal Province.
The major communities of Quezon and Metro Manila, as well as, the nearby municipalities of Montalban and Rodriquez Rizal had been submerged in flood for two days since the impact of Typhoon Carina in the Philippines. People had no food and were not able to cook and were drenched in flood water for hours while waiting for rescue and relief operations. Majority of these people also lived beside the creek and will take a couple days before they could go back to their homes and their normal lives.
The project will provide safe drinking water, food and a temporary relief to the flooded communities while in they are in the evacuation areas. And, the relief operations will be able to at least cover 2-3 days for the families to gain the necessary strength to clean and clear their houses that have been submerged to flood water for two days.
This project will enhance the natural tendencies of people to lend a helping hand to each other in times of need. This project will also revive the Filipino spirit "Bayanihan" (Cooperation) in dire situations.
