Improve Wheelchair Access to Government Buildings

by Global Communities Vetted since 2013

The majority of government offices are not accessible by people with disabilities. Accessible government offices are critical for ensuring all Iraqis are able to fully participate in democracy.

Establish a work program to build ramps and improve access for people with disabilities at priority government locations. These projects will provide short-term employment opportunities as well as considerable assistance to the disabled and elderly community.

Government facilities will be reviewed for accessibility. Access improvements, including ramp construction, will be built by Iraqis.

Long-Term Impact

The project aims at improving understanding and promotion of inclusion of people with disabilities. The activity will raise the awareness among the participants and help to convey the message among community members.
