Dear Friends,
Hope you're all doing well.
In our previous update, I shared the news on the Khamti AniBooks that we are producing in collaboration with called Khun Ta Nau Welfare Society (a non-profit) located in Namsai District in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
I am happy to say that we have now completed the first phase of the project thanks to the Khun Ta Nau Welfare Society team who helped us find several language experts. All 3 Khamti AniBooks of phase 1 that we produced in collaboration with BookBox (our social edtech partner) are available on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEhh1-8c3IMeiRSMITpQb4Jjhkvletm7-
The Khun Ta Nau Welfare Society’s team organized an event, to officially launch these 3 completed Khamti AniBooks and it was presided by the Honourable MLA Namsai- Chow Zingnu Namchoom at the District Commissioner’s office, Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh.
The event started with a welcome speech by Dr Sheelawati Monlai, President Khun Ta Nau Welfare Society, Namsai followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Honourable MLA Namsai, Chow Zingnu Namchoom and the Guest of Honour, Deputy Commissioner of Namsai, Mr Khampa.
A brief introduction of the programme and the AniBooks was delivered by Timita Mungyak, Vice President, of Khun Ta Nau Welfare Society followed by recorded speeches by Dr Kothari, Founder & Director, PlanetRead, Ms Deshmukh, Children’s Story Writer, Mr Mundayoor, Founder Lohit Libraries Network, the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. A demo of the AniBooks was also screened at the event.
Ms Deshmukh is the one leading this project from our side. Mr Namchoom, Ms Mungyak and Mr Mannow are the language experts from the Khun Ta Nau Welfare Society who helped with the translation, transcription and narration of the stories.
In the second phase, we started working to produce a new Khamti story called “How the Tiger Got its Stripes”. The story is based on Khamti folklore and is rewritten by Ms Deshmukh. We have identified and teamed with Mr Namchoom, an illustrator from Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh who has started putting the storyboard together and the scenes together.
Stay tuned for more updates.
Warmly,
Parthibhan
