Adolescent and young people from all the walks of Kenya gathered for a 2 day stock taking meeting held in Nairobi. Coming from different organizations, schools and institutions VAP led the battle from the football front, represented by 2 Skillz coaches and one participant. The focus of stock taking meeting was on the role of non-health sectors in the adolescent and young people response such as family health, mental health and substance abuse management. The meeting controlled by the young people for the young people stirred up a lot of informative discussions all in the fight against HIV and lots of take home messages.
VAP at the East Africa Sport for Development Regional Conference
Over 15 organizations using football for development converged at the MYSA headquarters under the umbrella of ‘Giving young people in Africa a voice to be change makers. ’The meeting involved youth panel discussions represented by all organizations including VAP who deliberated on issues affecting young people. The group also discussed on various developmental issues and networking opportunities amongst the East Africa network as a region.
East African Community Regional Share Fair
Hundreds of health experts, researchers, ministries of health government representatives and practitioners from the East African block gathered in Entebbe Uganda for a 3 days interactive and informative East African community regional share fair on knowledge management. The workshop geared on sharing and learning for better integration of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and HIV/AIDS opened up an opportunity for stakeholders to meet face to face and engage in vital conversation about implementation methods that have been effective in their respective work and countries while sharing, collaborating and learning from various best practices across the region as well as adapting improvement measures. As one of the attendees, coming from a sports/football perspective, VAP was privileged to share its knowledge management experiences and learning from other experienced players.
