Hope and Meals for Goma's Children

By PASCAL NIYONZIMA | CORDINATOR

Project Presentation Report

1. Context and Justification

In the city of Goma, North Kivu, children have been living for years under the weight of armed conflict, displacement, and severe food insecurity. Many go to school on an empty stomach, while others drop out entirely because their families can no longer meet their basic needs.
Faced with this reality, our initiative aims to provide more than food: it seeks to restore dignity, stability, and hope to vulnerable children.

2. General Objective

To establish school canteens in public primary schools in Goma, offering one daily hot and nutritious meal to children affected by war and hunger.

3. Specific Objectives

  • Fight hunger among schoolchildren.
  • Improve attendance, concentration, and academic performance.
  • Support the local economy by sourcing food from local producers and vendors.
  • Strengthen the resilience of families and schools facing ongoing crises.

4. Project Progress

  • Our partnership with GlobalGiving is active, giving us international visibility and a transparent donation mechanism.
  • So far, 20 dollars have been collected. This first contribution, though modest, marks the beginning of a growing chain of solidarity.
  • We are currently identifying trainers, volunteers, and beneficiaries who will participate in the implementation of the school canteens.
  • Official project activities are scheduled to begin in November 2025.

5. Overall Budget

The total projected budget for this initiative is 10,000 dollars.
This funding will cover essential needs for the launch and initial operation of the canteens: food supplies, basic kitchen materials, volunteer training, and essential logistics.

6. Expected Impact

  • Well-fed children who can concentrate and follow lessons in better conditions.
  • Reduced school dropout rates.
  • Stronger community ties through local volunteer and supplier involvement.
  • Long-term improvements in the well-being and future prospects of hundreds of vulnerable children.

7. Call to Donors

We extend a sincere appeal to all individuals, organizations, and partners who care about the well-being of children.
Every contribution—large or small—represents a meal, a smile, and a renewed chance for a child in Goma to believe in their future.

Through GlobalGiving, your donation is secure, transparent, and directly impacts the children we serve. Together, we can reach—and surpass—the 10,000-dollar goal and transform lives.

8. Acknowledgments

We express our heartfelt gratitude to our first donors who have already supported this project. Your contribution is the foundation of an initiative that will bring lasting change to many children.
We also thank GlobalGiving for its trust, its support, and its platform that allows us to envision the successful achievement of our goals.
