The recent devastating floods triggered by the heavy monsoon rains in Southern Nepal seriously affected millions of people. At least 180 people have lost their lives and over 50,000 houses have been submerged. The killer flood entered entirely in the communities without even providing people a chance to take away their belongings. There is no enough food nor clean drinking water to feed the hungry and thirsty kids. In Sunsari, FSI Nepal aims to feed 350 destitute children to survive the tragedy.
The unexpected heavy rainfall followed by natural disaster took away lives, properties and hopes of thousands of people. A developing country where agriculture is the main source of income for many people in Nepal, it is not unfair to say that most of the flood affected people have lost their everything. Amidst this tragedy, FSI Nepal will provide basic necessities such as food, water, clothes and hygiene kits to flood affected marginalized children to help overcome shock and regain normal life.
Initially, this project will aim in fulfilling the immediate needs like food, water, clothes and hygiene kits. Later on, Food Security Initiative Nepal will operate a community and school kitchen to serve starving children of flood affected areas with nutritious meals (cooked rice, dal, veggies), purified water, flour (Sarbottam Pitho) mixture of dried rice, maize, soybean, wheat and barley to fight against hunger and diseases. This will support school children to continue their education.
This project will support at least 350 flood affected starving kids with culturally accepted cooked meal to fight against hunger, discouraging unhealthy junk food. Our small effort could save and make lives of these children better.
