Accessing healthy food is becoming impossible

By Kemi | CEO

Dear Supporter,

Thank you for standing with us in the fight against hunger and food insecurity in South London. Because of your generosity, Be Enriched continues to provide nutritious food and welcoming community meals for people facing some of life's toughest challenges.

This year we have already served 2426 meals powered by 553 volunteers and the need continues to grow

Recent research commissioned by Lidl GB revealed that Britain reached its 2026 "Planetary Health Diet Overshoot Day" on 25 July, meaning as a nation we have already exceeded the recommended balance of foods for a healthy and sustainable diet for the entire year. The research found that people in the UK consume only 40% of the recommended fruit and vegetables and just 18% of the recommended plant-based proteins and affordability remains one of the biggest barriers to healthier eating.

For the people we support, these challenges are even more severe. Many families, older people, disabled residents, and those on low incomes are forced to choose between food, heating, rent, and transport. Healthy food is often the first thing sacrificed when budgets are stretched.

We believe access to nutritious food is a fundamental human right.

The right to food means that everyone should be able to access sufficient, safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food to live a healthy and dignified life. When people have reliable access to good food, children's health improves, mental wellbeing strengthens, social isolation reduces, and communities thrive.

Your donation helps make this right a reality. Every contribution supports our Community Canteensand stimulates supportive communties between those less well off.

Today, we're asking you to help us go even further. With your support, we can provide more than meals.  Dignity, connection, and hope.

Please consider making an additional donation today so we can build a future where everyone has the food they need to flourish.
