The Project is an initiative of the Joyas de Cristo Boys and Girls Foundation and sponsored by the Funcomas Foundation that seeks to save the lives of thousands of hundreds of families that are being affected by the current crisis caused by COVID-19. This project gives you the opportunity to help guarantee food, health and education for affected people and their direct dependents. As well as dependents of people who have been unemployed due to the pandemic.
The coronavirus has hit the Dominican Republic hard. Not only in the health field, but also in the economy of many communities that were already experiencing difficulties before experiencing the current global crisis. According to a survey carried out by the United Nations, at least 59.1% of Dominican households have suffered a significant reduction in their sources of income, due to the current health emergency due to the suspension of jobs and the bankruptcy of small businesses.
We will focus our work on 4 main strategies: Temporarily guarantee food for affected families. Facilitate access to education for children from families affected by the crisis. Support COVID-19 patients who live the process at home without the proper equipment for their recovery. Create an entrepreneurship school to support people who have lost their jobs to generate new sources of income.
We hope to achieve the following: 300 families fed for 5 months. 1,300 boys and girls with access to virtual or face-to-face education. 80 new businesses as a result of our entrepreneurship program
