For years, children in Malynivka, Kharkiv region, have known school only through a screen, as all local schools operate online due to the war. In early 2026, savED opened EduHive, a safe underground learning center where children can learn and spend time together. This project will expand EduHive by renovating 110 m of shelter space, creating more room for the community's 675 school-age children and enabling over 80 students to regularly join offline activities.
Since the war began, children in Malynivka have been studying entirely online, with few chances to see their friends, learn, or simply spend time together. In early 2026, savED opened EduHive in a local bomb shelter - one of the community's only safe spaces where children can meet face to face. However, the learning safe space is too small for the community's needs. By expanding it, we can give more children a safe place to learn, connect, and simply be children again.
This project will expand EduHive by renovating an additional 110 square meters of bomb shelter. The renovation will include the installation of heating and ventilation systems, general renovation works, furnishing and equipping. The expanded center will feature a sports area for kickboxing and other physical activities, classroom for educational catch-up programmes, workshops, and other activities. The facilities and equipment will also be used by civilians seeking shelter during air raids.
The expanded EduHive will provide a safe and comfortable learning environment accessible to the approximately 675 school-age children living in the Malynivka community, with more than 80 students expected to regularly participate in offline activities there. Beyond increasing the center's capacity, the project will strengthen an important community resource that supports children's learning and social interaction, while also providing temporary shelter for civilians during shelling.
