This project overlooks family-based care for orphans and vulnerable children in Pakistan. The project will equip families, caregivers, churches, and community organizations to prevent unnecessary family separation, strengthen vulnerable households, promote safe alternative family care, and mobilize communities to ensure every child grows up protected, loved, and supported within a nurturing family environment.
Thousands of vulnerable children in Pakistan face family separation due to poverty, parental loss, neglect, disability, migration, and limited family support services. Many are placed in institutional care despite having living relatives who could care for them with appropriate support. Families and communities often lack the resources and skills to provide safe, nurturing care, increasing children's risks of exploitation, abuse, and social exclusion.
The project will strengthen vulnerable families to prevent unnecessary child separation and promote safe, family-based care. It will identify at-risk children, support caregivers with parenting skills, counseling, livelihood assistance and referrals, and mobilize churches and communities to protect children. Where children cannot safely remain with parents, the project will promote kinship, foster and other appropriate family-based care solutions.
The project will build a sustainable community-based system that keeps vulnerable children safely connected to families rather than institutions. By strengthening caregivers, churches, local organizations and child-protection networks, communities will be better equipped to prevent family separation and respond early to children at risk. Over time, more children will grow up safe, loved, protected and supported to reach their full potential.
