New Mercy Early Childhood Development center located in the northern part of Uganda. A region that experienced two decades of political insecurity which culminated to high school drop out standing at 54.8% (UBOS 2023), high poverty level standing at 21,8% (World bank 2018), high rate of gender equality, high rate of teenage pregnancy and child marriage. Standing at 49.3% (UNFPA 2021)
Because of the above, New Mercy Nursery School has been at the forefront by providing supports that promote school retention for the Orphans and vulnerable children; offering teaching education of pre- primary and primary Education, provision of schoolastic material, books pens, and other learning materials, plan to construct classroom blocks for the orphan and Vulnerable children to promote smooth education activities. Provision of basic needs like clothes, soaps, food.
Achievements.
1. Supported 50 orphan and vulnerable children with a bar of soap.
2. Supported 50 orphan and Vulnerable children with two Pair of second hand clothes.
3. Graduated 20 Orphans and Vulnerable children from pre-primary to Primary education.
4. Trained 10 Adolescent Young Girls and child mothers with soft skills and tailoring.
5. Acquired two acres land for the construction of New Mercy Nursery and Primary school
Challenges.
1. Inadequate fundings
2. Increasing rate of orphans and vulnerable children from the community
Recomendations
1. more funsing is required
2. classroom blocks to be constriucted.
