The project will build classroom blocks, equip it with furniture, reading materials, playing materials, provide school uniforms and meals to 150 Orphans and Vulnerable children in Kole-Uganda. Orphans and Vulnerable children constitute a significant percentage in Kole Uganda which must be considered in order to ensure that they are supported in their education journeys to achieve the fourth United Nation sustainable Development Goal of "Quality education"
90% of the population from Kole, Northern Uganda lives in extreme poverty due to the prolonged insurgency of the Lord's resistance Army. The war left havoc on the economic set up which has affected all the sectors including education. An increase in vulnerable and orphanage children was realized. The high poverty levels of parents and the vulnerable situation of children has compromised the future of our children since they cannot get access to quality and affordable education.
New Mercy provides free and competitive quality education to orphan and vulnerable children identified from the community in pre-primary and primary school. Besides learning, it also creates an enabling environment for Orphan and vulnerable children to showcase their skills and potential. This ushered into a healthy competition and restoration of hope of the Vulnerable children.
The project will educate 150 children allowing them to live a resilience life and taps opportunities to ensure they rise out of poverty circle which will enable them to provide for their families' health and well-being. the orphan and vulnerable children will be in the job market to compete with the rest of the children.
