Greetings from Kole district-Northern Uganda.
New Mercy Nursery Early Childhood Development center is a community-led initiative for the orphans and vulnerable children established to reduce school drop out, increase school retention and enrolment and uplift the performance amongst orphans and vulnerable children in Kole-Uganda.
The community experienced two decades of Lord Resistance Army insurgency which culminated in drastic economic setback, crippled education sector and an increase in poverty rate. The rebels looted properties of the community, abducted children, killed civilians and committed several war crimes against humanity.
We have So far enrolled one hundred and fifty orphans and Vulnerable Children from diverse economic backgrounds including those affected and infected with Human Immune Virus and are on Antiretroviral Therapy medication.
The 2030 UN Sustainable development goal (Goal 4 Quality and affordable Education) Can not be achieved in such an area if a sustainable intervention towards elevating the education sector in the area is not implored.
New Mercy ECD center therefore, requests support to enable us to construct classroom blocks, acquire furniture, and provide meals for the children and any others in kind donations like books, playing materials, learning materials (pens, rulers, balls, rubbers, chalks etc ).
